What makes you most proud about the Friedman School?
The reputation of the Friedman School is really bolstered by the outstanding work and of our faculty and alumni. Many alumni are leaders in their field and it makes me proud to have been a part of such a great place.
Who has had the greatest impact on you at the Friedman School?
Without a doubt, it has been my advisor Dr. Xiang-Dong Wang. It was a privilege to work with someone with such an infectious enthusiasm for nutrition research. His enthusiasm for research is only surpassed by his desire for his students to be successful. I consider myself fortunate to have worked alongside such a great researcher and mentor.
What moment sums up your Friedman School experience?
I was fortunate enough to be part of the first Student Research Conference organizing committee. It represented a group of students from across all disciplines within the school coming together for a common goal. Nutrition is not only about science or policy but is the integration of both. It really represented, for me, what it means to work in nutrition.
What opportunities have been made possible for you, or someone else, through the Friedman School?
One of the best experiences I had while at the Friedman School was having the opportunity to intern at a local biotech company owned by a Friedman School Alum. I was given the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience working in industry while expanding my skill set in the laboratory. It has proven to be an invaluable experience that I am truly thankful for.
What is your favorite nutrition advice?
Food is a great thing that should be enjoyed in moderation.
